Over the past few weeks, a handful of sharp-eyed patients have asked me the same question at the front desk: “Dr. Curry, did y’all move? Google says you’re in Vestavia Hills now.”
Let me put your mind at ease. We didn’t move an inch. Stuart Curry Dentistry is still at 4851 Cahaba River Rd Ste 101, Vestavia Hills, AL 35243, the same office we’ve called home for more than two decades. Same building, same parking lot, same team, same phone number: (205) 972-3831.
So what changed? Just one word on the address line. Here’s the story.
We Didn’t Move, the Post Office Just Got More Precise
For years, our mailing address listed “Birmingham” as the city. That was never technically wrong. We’re proudly part of the greater Birmingham metro, and that’s simply the mailing convention everyone used for this stretch of Cahaba River Road.
But look up our ZIP code, 35243, with the United States Postal Service, and you’ll see it’s officially assigned to Vestavia Hills. So we recently updated our address everywhere (Google, our website, directories, the whole nine yards) to match the postal records.
That’s it. That’s the whole change. If you have our old address saved in your GPS, don’t worry: it will still bring you right to our front door, just off Highway 280 near I-459, across from the Cahaba River.
Birmingham, Vestavia Hills, or Cahaba Heights: Where Are We, Really?
This is one of my favorite bits of local trivia, because the honest answer is: all three.
Our office sits in the Cahaba Heights community, which was annexed into the City of Vestavia Hills some years back. That’s why the official city on our address changed. And Vestavia Hills, in turn, belongs to the greater Birmingham metro.
So if you tell a friend your dentist is in Cahaba Heights, you’re right. Vestavia Hills? Also right. Birmingham? Nobody’s going to correct you at a dinner party. It’s a bit like the Summit: everyone around here just says they’re “going to the Summit,” no matter which side of the city line it sits on. The lines on the map are more complicated than the drive.
What matters to us is that we’ve been part of this community the whole time, treating kids from the local elementary schools, then watching those same kids come back years later with children of their own.
What This Means for You (Spoiler: Very Little)
Here’s the complete list of things that change for you as a patient: the city on our address now reads Vestavia Hills instead of Birmingham. That’s the entire list.
And here’s everything that stays exactly the same:
- Your appointments, your records, and your insurance coverage, all unaffected
- Our phone number, hours, parking, and every member of our team
- Mail addressed the old way will still reach us just fine
If you ever spot an old “Birmingham” version of our address on an insurance document or an online directory and it gives you pause, just give us a call. It’s us, I promise.
